Inclusive vs. exclusive day counting
From Monday to Friday is four elapsed days but five calendar days if you count both endpoints. Deadlines, interest accrual and project plans differ on which convention they use โ this calculator reports elapsed days (end date excluded), the most common convention.
Business-day counts here exclude Saturdays and Sundays but not public holidays, which vary by country. For contractual deadlines, always check the governing definition of 'business day'.
Frequently Asked Questions
โธAre both dates included in the count?
The start date is included and the end date excluded (elapsed-days convention). Add 1 to the total if your use case counts both endpoints.
โธDoes it account for leap years?
Yes โ counting uses real calendar dates, so all leap days in the range are included.
