How many bricks per square meter?
With standard 10 mm mortar joints, a UK-format brick (215×102.5×65 mm) lays about 50 per square meter in a single skin; large 440×215 mm concrete blocks need only about 10. Multiply wall area by the rate, then add 5% for cuts and breakage.
Don't forget to subtract large openings (doors, windows) from the wall area for big jobs, and remember piers and double-skin walls multiply the count.
